The "Puisque tu pars" project provided food aid to displaced populations in Burkina Faso.

In Nouna, in the northwest of Burkina Faso, the influx of displaced people is increasing demographic pressure on land where poor populations are already victims of threats and droughts.

Sr Toyin, who lives in this region, asked for help from Rosalie Projects to support these internal refugees. She recounts:

"In recent years, the rise of violent extremism has led to an unprecedented security crisis, which has now become one of the main humanitarian challenges. Terrorist attacks have plunged hundreds of families into mourning, causing human misery which in turn has displaced thousands of people.

In the Kossi and Banwa provinces, this security crisis has resulted in almost 22,000 internally displaced people in need of humanitarian assistance.

In collaboration with pastoral agents, we were able to help beneficiaries in the community of Bourasso, a village twenty kilometers from Nouna, which had just been emptied of its inhabitants under the threat of terrorism".

Donations collected as part of the project enabled the purchase and distribution of food and essential household items to these people, who are struggling to provide a daily meal..

The beneficiaries

100 families displaced from the town of Bourasso found refuge in Nouna, a minimum of 700 people.

Alain Aubin COULIBALY, farmer and head of a family of 15, received a three-month supply of 100kg of rice, 100kg of corn, 100kg of small mill, 25kg of salt, 1 tin of oil, 25 cans of sardines and 4 cartons of sugar, as well as essential household items.

"I had nothing left, I didn't know how to feed the many mouths waiting for me at home" he recounts, "I thank the donors from the bottom of my heart."

Pupils were also able to benefit from this food aid so that they could continue their schooling as normal.

But many displaced people still need help:

"The Direction Provinciale de l'Action humanitaire has told us that these people are treading the floors of their premises every day, begging goodwill and providence for essential needs. The offices of OCADES NOUNA's Human Solidarity Department are also full to bursting, with these new "housemates" who don't know which way to turn. Providing food for them and their offspring remains a daily challenge. So it's "the hand of God" that's involved in this project "to come to our aid...", confessed several mothers, in tears.

"This has made our choices difficult, because there are so many people in need. There is indeed great suffering among these populations, suffering that we have also felt by not being able to meet everyone's needs."

"So this is an opportunity to thank the generosity of Rosalie Projects donors from the bottom of our hearts on behalf of all those people we've been able to help so far." Sr Toyin

With them, thanks to you
