We did it

Thanks to you, 45 Peruvian women have received training and can now look forward to professional integration and the financial independence they were lacking.

The "Promise of Dawn" project was designed to help these women escape domestic violence in their own homes. The project acquired equipment to train them in hairdressing, sewing and baking. This training was complemented by support in running a micro-business and workshops on self-esteem to help them rebuild their lives.

Thanks to the new equipment installed in the bakery, the women were able to make bread, cakes, pies and snacks. They also learned how to process milk to produce yoghurts, cheeses and butter.

"Ten teenage girls aged 14 to 15 are also taking part in the workshop. With the help of the teacher, they are working on a project to set up a sales business and have applied to the municipality for training in marketing and sales." Sr Aurelia

In the sewing workshops, mothers cut and make models of women's skirts, blouses, dresses and pants.

"They are enthusiastic and grateful because they have new machines and everything they need to work. Some mothers have already sold their creations, while others are making dresses for their own daughters.

The municipality of Awajun invited us to take part in the civic parade for the country's birthday on July 28.  The mothers had made a special outfit for their presentation, which made them look very elegant. They received a lot of applause from the population and the authorities". Sr Aurelia

"We've also set up a space in the house for hair workshops. The mothers do haircuts for the children and also learn how to do hair treatments with natural elements. Their goal is to set up a small workshop at home." Sr Aurelia

Before starting their courses, the trainers talk to the women about self-esteem and personal development, helping them to develop a positive view of themselves.

"The mayor of the city visited us to see the work of the mothers. He was impressed by the generosity of the people who have supported the Promesa del Alba project and all the women who want a better life for themselves and their families.

"May Our Lord Jesus and Mary our Mother grant you abundant blessings, as well as to each of those who work in these projects of solidarity with the most needy, in union of prayers". Sr Aurelia
