We did it

This small-scale agricultural project was carried out to enable 15 displaced families in Burkina Faso to support themselves.

These families had to leave their livestock, homes and all their possessions to flee terrorist threats and frequent kidnappings in the north and east of the country.

The beneficiaries

9 women and 6 men responded to the proposal of the Daughters of Charity of Nouna to build pens and raise small livestock (goats and sheep).

A water supply system was also created to alleviate the frequent drought in the area.

Thanks to this agricultural project, the households have received pairs of goats or sheep whose meat is highly prized. The animals are reproduced and sold, which provides an important regular income to improve the daily life of these families.

105 people have been able to regain a balanced diet, including 60 children who have escaped the threat of malnutrition. They can also go to school and receive medical care, and the families no longer need regular help from the Daughters of Charity.

The beautiful testimonies

"I am Mrs Dembele and I have a disabled child. Thanks to the help I received from the sisters, I can now afford to take care of him and my other children. I have already sold three sheep from my farm and others are still full. I no longer depend on others for my daily needs, I am very grateful to the Daughters of Charity and their partners for this great help."

"I was chased out of my village by unknown armed men, life for me was very difficult and I had to live by begging for a while. Today I am very satisfied with my state of life, the animals given to me to raise by the sisters have been a huge source of relief for me, the fact that I am engaged in an activity is already a great distraction for me and my family, and moreover I contribute to the economic situation of the locality through my small breeding. Thank you!"

Diallo Inouf

"I have come to thank you again on behalf of the very poor in the village of Nouna in Burkina Faso. Thanks to your help, this livestock project has given them the means to survive the poverty they have found themselves in and to be able to care for their families." Sr Veronica
