The Daughters of Charity work with the association of Vincentian Marian Youth – VMY – which is an educational movement of the Catholic Church, born in the rue du Bac in Paris during the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to St. Catherine Labouré (1830). VMY invites every young person to take a new and dynamic look at society and to live there fully, whatever their culture, social background or belief. It offers them a space to gather, share their lives, form humanly and Christianly to become actors in their living environment, to build a more just and fraternal world.

VMY is present in 65 countries, the international secretariat is in Madrid, its motto is "live, contemplate and serve"

To live: to allow everyone to discover, to live the respect and to take his place in the team. To increase the personality and talents of each.

Contemplate: following the example of Mary, re-read her own life and that of our world to discover the signs of God. To live the thanksgiving of the Magnificat. To be a witness of Christ.

To serve: following the example of St Vincent de Paul, carry out concrete actions in solidarity with the most deprived. Create paths of fraternity, justice and peace.

The VMY has been present in Brazil for 150 years and currently consists of 77 groups and 1,511 members: children, youth and young adults between the ages of 8 and 30 years.

Today, the work of evangelizing young people is a constant challenge for the social context in which we live, linked to the economic, political and ethical situation facing the world. Young people are becoming increasingly vulnerable. However, we are convinced that young Catholics who have been evangelized and nourished by the Word of God, committed to the cause of the disinherited, can by their capacity evangelize in their turn, their brothers and sisters.

What is our goal?

In order to support and encourage more young people who work with us, we wish to organize a great meeting to deepen their Christian and Marian formation. They can become main actors, even trainers of other young people in their realities of life, with whom they already have contact within their school, their family, their neighborhood, in a context often exposed to Crime, drugs and domestic violence.

Our meeting will take place from 06 to 10 September 2017. We want to welcome 100 young people of the Vincentian Marian Youth for 4 days in the "Villa of the Miraculous Medal" in Jaboatão dos Guararapes - Pernambuco - Brazil.

Before the meeting, some young people will be in charge of the organization:

• The logotype competition and the anthem of the meeting: the young people will send their suggestions and the voting will be done on the Internet;
• Registration for the event starting May 1 through June 30, 2017;
• The preparation of the teaching materials to be used during the meeting;
• Conferences, workshops, moments of prayer (and spirituality) and evangelism;
• Visits to institutions for the elderly, children with disabilities, etc.
