The project "A taxi to kigali" was carried out in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.
The goal was simple but essential: by purchasing two motorcycles, help two fathers earn a living as motorcycle taxi drivers.

The Daughters of Charity community identified two beneficiary families and chose the type of motorcycles to purchase in order to launch this transportation business, which is very common in Kigali.
“The administrative procedures have been finalized, the motorcycles registered and insured, and protective equipment for the drivers purchased. Previously, the fathers had saved up to get their motorcycle licenses.” Sr. Théodosie
In April 2025, the two motorcycles were operational and the two fathers were able to start their professional activity. This professional reintegration project is therefore fully completed.
Today, they work every day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., just like any other employee. Around 50 people a day use their motorcycle taxi services. Fuel retailers and the government also benefit from the economic spin-offs of this activity (fuel purchases, taxes, duties).
Above all, these fathers have regained the dignity of work, they are respected, their social status has improved, and they provide their families with financial stability. In total, 12 people, members of both families, benefit directly from the project.

"This project is entirely self-sufficient. The motorcycle taxi business generates enough income to cover expenses and ensure the economic growth of families! " Sr. Théodosie
They can now pay their rent, their children's school fees, health insurance, clothing, and daily food. They have three years to repay an agreed amount of capital and pass the baton on to other families. They are even managing to save for future projects, such as businesses for the wives and buying a house...
The testimony of Jean Pierre N., father of three children, perfectly illustrates the impact of this reintegration assistance:

"I am happy because we have good living conditions, better than before. Yes, before I had a miserable life without work. Now I have hope for the future, I have a motorcycle, I work.
Thank you for your help through the Daughters of Charity. Thank you to all the benefactors who have supported my family. Now that I have my motorcycle, I will work to support myself and my family. My vision for the future is to work hard to buy a family home and pay for my children's education to prepare them for their future. I want this motorcycle to be a source of sustainable development so that I can continue to provide for my family's needs. Thank you very much. God bless you. A big THANK YOU!"
