The “I Pomise you” project provided breakfast and a daily meal for kindergarten and primary school pupils at the Saint Vincent de Paul school in Kigali, Rwanda.

« Many of these children come from poor homes. With the rising cost of living, families are finding it increasingly difficult to meet their children's basic needs. They sometimes arrive hungry and unable to concentrate in class. They are often absent or, in the worst cases, drop out of school. » Sr Théodosie

Prior to the project, the sisters wanted to bring parents together to raise awareness of the children's fatigue and the need to provide them with a meal at school. The families agreed to help distribute the meals by financing 5,000 Frw per term (equivalent to 5 euros).

« For those who couldn't afford it, we respected their possibilities with discretion. » Sr Théodosie

As soon as the Rosalie Projects funds were received, the sister in charge of purchasing contacted suppliers and selected the best quality foodstuffs, all at an affordable price.

Thanks to Rosalie Projects, 250 children have benefited from meals

Every morning, they were served a breakfast of porridge or milk and bread. A second meal, prepared by the school's 4 cooks, provided them with the nutrient-rich foods they needed (beans, rice, vegetables, corn dough and bananas).  For some children, this was the only meal they received all day.

« We soon noticed an improvement in their health. They put on weight and, as they were full, they were able to follow the courses without difficulty. » Sr Théodosie

« The teachers made good progress with their program, with children who were attentive and able to cope with the pace of school without dropping out or being absent a lot. Some even saw their academic results improve»

« Our difficulty was that we had planned to carry out the project for 6 months. Unfortunately, with prices rising day by day, we were only able to cover 3 months of expenses. » Sr Théodosie

«  We give you thanks for so many of God's wonders around us.
Yes, you have been a promise to these children : MANY THANKS!
»
