We did it

In Trinidad, Bolivia, the La Inmaculada Educational Unit is much more than a school: it's a place of life and promise for 750 children and teenagers from primary to secondary school. But until now, the science classrooms have been sorely lacking in equipment to make lessons more concrete. Theories remained abstract, and experiments were too few and far between.

To fill this learning gap, Sr. Isabel's project "The Time for Experiments" aimed to equip the laboratory with chemistry, physics, biology, geography and natural sciences.

Upon receiving the funding, Sr. Isabel coordinated the purchases with the teaching staff. Priorities were defined collectively, taking into account the most urgent needs and the realities of the local market, as prices had changed slightly between the budget planning and its implementation.

"The entire teaching staff mobilized to organize, classify and distribute the equipment according to the different scientific disciplines, to transform the laboratory into a true space for discovery and active learning!" Sr .Isabel

The result is impressive! The laboratory now has a complete and varied range of scientific equipment:

- Glassware and chemical equipment: volumetric flasks, beakers, test tubes, graduated pipettes, amber flasks, funnels, Petri dishes, filter paper, pH indicators…

- Measuring instruments: thermometers, hydrometer, alcoholmeter, digital sphygmomanometer, stopwatch…

- Observation and biology equipment: Olympus microscope, slides and coverslips, methylene blue, articulated human skeleton, anatomical mannequin (torso)…

- Safety equipment: first aid kit, latex gloves, hairnets, universal stands, electrical stabilizer…

A laboratory to nurture scientific vocations

But the most beautiful thing is what happens in the students' eyes! Ana Martínez, 10 years old, a fifth-grade student, didn't hide her excitement: "Finally, we'll be able to touch, manipulate, and understand!" She dreams of chemistry and university and now sees her future becoming more attainable…

“Like her, hundreds of children at our school are discovering that science is not about dusty books, but a living adventure, made up of observation, measurement, trial and error, and discovery. The laboratory becomes a workshop of awakening, where critical thinking is sharpened, where hands learn as much as eyes…” Sr. Isabel

The project is now complete, without major difficulties, and is financially self-sufficient. All funds were used in full accordance with the initial plan.

“By providing the school with a proper laboratory, your donations have given us much more than scientific equipment. It is a promise for the future being written here, for an entire educational community, and for the scientists of tomorrow; it has opened a door to vocations, ambitions, and futures that 750 young Bolivians can now look forward to with confidence.” Sr. Isabel
