From 24 to 30 August 2022, the Superior General of the Daughters of Charity, Sister Françoise Petit, visited most of the Daughters of Charity communities in Ukraine. She was accompanied, among others, by Sister Hanna Cybyla, General Councillor for the Eastern European provinces. The sisters arrived from Krakow, where the Superior General visited the Provincial House of the Daughters of Charity and met most of the sisters of the Province.

Françoise met the residents of the House of Charity, refugees from Eastern Ukraine, children and young people. Then the sisters went to Storozhynets, where they visited the parish of St. Anne and met parishioners. They continued to Sniatyn, where the tomb of Blessed Sister Marta Wiecka SM is located, and reached Perechyn in Transcarpathia, where the Vincentian Fathers carry out pastoral work.

The purpose of the trip was to show by their presence that the whole Society supports Ukraine as much as possible, especially in prayer. Sister Françoise said that every day she receives letters from all over the world in which the sisters assure her of prayers for Ukraine. Many testimonies of gratitude have been sent to the sisters these days, especially for their presence in Ukraine and their service to each person put on their path of life.

Since the early days of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity and the neighbouring provinces have also been involved in providing material aid to the Ukrainian people, either directly or in cooperation with other branches and organisations of the Vincentian Family - the Rosalie Projects, the Congregation of the Mission, AIC and DePaul Ukraine.

The Daughters of Charity who used to work in and around Odesa were evacuated to Transcarpathia along with thousands of other residents fleeing the bombings and war.When asked when they would return to visit the whole of Ukraine, Sr Françoise replied that if it was God's will, next time she would come to celebrate the victory of Ukraine with the Sisters.
