The small town of Smotrych is is located in Western Ukraine, in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast.
Its 2,000 inhabitants try every day to face the harsh reality of local life.
Following the call of the Bishop of this Ukrainian diocese, three sisters of the Company of the Daughters of Charity opened a House in Smotrych, in the Province of Chelmno-Poznan (Poland) in May 2016, to live as close as possible from this very poor population and try to meet their various needs.
The economic reality of Smotrych is quite dull. Indeed, many men emigrate to Poland to find a job as they cannot find one in Ukraine, their own country.
The elderly, who account for a large percentage of the village's inhabitants, have a very low pension, but thanks to a simple way of living they manage to provide financial support to their children and grandchildren.
Smotrych has only six workplaces, a school, a kindergarten, a clinic, a retirement home, a carpentry and a stone extraction plant
Mothers are often forced to raise their children alone.
In order to support their families, they work a few hours in one of the local businesses and run a small farm.
Communism has had a significant impact on society since most people believe in God but do not build their daily life on faith
Because of the dramatic economic situation of the country, 37.5% of Ukrainians live below the poverty line, which is the main reason for the economic emigration of both young people and adults.
In Smotrych, the only recreation area for children is a football field with improvised goals. Built in 1980, the nursery school playground can only be used during school hours.
Our dream is to create an "oasis of joy" for children.
The construction of a playground on the Community grounds will enable the children of the village to enjoy themselves and fully live their youth.
It is currently very cold in Ukraine, the construction of the playground will begin in spring when temperatures will be milder.
Most children have responsibilities such as helping their parents with the daily chores, which leaves them limited time to play.
Therefore, it is very important for us that this moment of escape is used in a creative way to stimulate them.
The construction of a playground with a turnstile, a sandbox, a swing, a buttock and a large wooden construction with a slide, swings and a climbing area would fill them with joy.
We believe that this playground will be a place that will fill their minds with wonderful childhood memories.

This new Community of which I am the Servant Sister was created in May 2017. With two other sisters, we have been integrated in the parish of Smotrych in Ukraine. We visit the sick as well as lonely old people, provide health advice and care.
We animate pastoral times adapted to various ages.
With children and young people, we try to create a pleasant environment when meeting with young people, to bring them some joy in their rather complicated lives.
This is why the creation of a playground is one of our priorities!
It is thanks to the support of the donors of the Rosalie Projects that this project will be implemented. As of now, we express our gratitude through prayers.
