We did it

This beautiful project was financed thanks to you. Find out how it was set up with Sister Carmen's activity report.

The project was carried out in several stages

First phase - February 2020: Training of students and teachers in the use of ICT (Information and Communication Technology)

Second phase - March 2020: Purchase of computers and installation for use by students and teachers.

Third phase - May 2020: Integration of the virtual library into the computers

Fourth phase - June 2020: Installation of the networked computers. Creation of a page where students can share their learning experience.

The project was carried out in the midst of a health emergency during the pandemic, making it somewhat difficult to purchase and commission the equipment and systems, and to deliver the desks.

The beneficiaries

With the threat of the spread of COVID-19 in Paraguay, social distancing measures have obliged the institution to provide distance learning via the internet.

In order to guarantee access to the courses for all our students, the laptops acquired are used in the library by the poorest students who cannot afford them at home. Thus, 200 students have access to computers in the school, taking all precautions according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Public Health, with staggered hours and under the supervision of the Sisters in charge.

In the future and once the normal rhythm has returned, the 500 planned beneficiaries, both teachers and pupils, will use these tools to meet the needs of each class. They will be able to progress in their curriculum according to their level and during their free time at school.

The number of children, teenagers and young people is increasing and our needs are immense. We are extremely grateful for this valuable contribution, which has enabled us to purchase these 8 laptops in the first instance.

Our goal would be to have about 15 of them in order to continue to meet the needs of the students to progress in their learning through this virtual library.

We are extremely grateful for this support, in the same way that activities have been affected by the COVID pandemic. The computers that we purchased have helped these young people enormously, who have a digital divide because their families have very limited resources. We are very satisfied to have accompanied them towards these new learning paths.

A word from Sister Carmen

"Please receive my fraternal and cordial greetings and my best wishes for the well-being of your family and friends.

I am happy to address each of you, with the aim of expressing my most sincere gratitude for the collaboration and support you have given to the project "A digital library" of the Colegio Virgen Poderosa.

Your donation allows us to continue to create an environment where learning is effective, especially in this time of pandemic, and the most disadvantaged adolescents are extremely grateful to be able to continue studying in good conditions.

Your contribution has enabled us to cover the costs of eight notebooks, two tables, eight seats and the installation of equipment.

I thank you for your generosity and the trust you have placed in us and the school I represent. Without your support, this project would not have been possible. On behalf of the entire team of teachers, parents, students and myself, we would like to express our sincere thanks. We are happy to have committed people who look for ways to help the weakest and most needy.

You are a living example of generosity for the benefit of a more caring society.

Without further ado, I bid you farewell, wishing you continued success and the spreading of these beautiful values.

May the grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the protection of the Virgin Mary accompany our life and our mission."
