In the city of Atuntaqui, Ecuador, is the Santa Luisa de Marillac Educational Unit, an institution run since 1920 by the Daughters of Charity, which currently welcomes 705 students, from kindergarten to high school.
The sisters strive to keep the Vincentian charism alive by supporting the most vulnerable students, particularly those with disabilities or special educational needs.

A worrying observation
Many of them have difficulty participating in class, exhibit aggressive behavior that interferes with classroom dynamics, and experience ongoing health problems that affect their performance.
As Sr. Patricia points out, “The guidelines of the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education require that every student with specific developmental disorders undergo a psycho-educational assessment in order to better meet their needs.”
Working closely with teachers, Sr. Patricia and three other Daughters of Charity identified 30 students requiring specialized support.
These children have, in particular:
· learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia),
· attention and behavioral disorders (ADHD),
· autism spectrum disorders (Asperger's, Rett's),
· Down syndrome,
· sensory impairments or physical disabilities.
“With the help of professionals, we are committed to supporting them so that they can continue their education in the best possible way and not feel excluded from an educational path to which they are entitled.”
Thanks to your support, this project will fund:
· occupational therapy sessions,
· speech therapy,
· psycho-educational support and psycho-rehabilitation,
· consultations in child neuropsychology.

These interventions will help students to:
· stimulate their memory, creativity, and thinking,
· strengthen their autonomy and independence,
· develop attention, language, expression, and mathematical logic,
· reduce stress, regulate emotions, and strengthen resilience,
· improve their relationships with their families and classmates at school.
By supporting this project, you are giving these children the opportunity to believe in their abilities and find their place in school and society.
Together, tel's change their future
If the project is funded beyond its target, the surplus donations received will be allocated to a similar project.
